Cardiac rehabilitation
Cardiac rehabilitation aims to help you recover from a cardiovascular event — such as a heart attack or heart failure — or other debilitating heart condition. This recovery process usually involves physical therapy, exercise and education to rebuild and maintain your heart strength.
Conditions that may require cardiac rehab
Cardiac rehabilitation may be an option for those recovering from:
- Heart attack
- Heart bypass surgery
- Heart or heart-lung transplant
- Heart valve repair or replacement
- Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty/stenting (PTCA)
- Stable angina
Our cardiac therapy program
Offering a comprehensive approach to recovery, our exercise physiologists, nutritionists, counselors and other specialists work together to help you reach your maximum level of function and independence.
About our intensive cardiac rehabilitation program
Whether you're recovering from a heart attack, heart disease or heart surgery, our goal is to help your heart grow stronger, build long lasting heart healthy habits, and reduce your risk of future cardiac events.
Unlike traditional outpatient rehab programs that primarily focus on physical exercise, our nationally recognized Pritikin Intensive Cardiac Rehabilitation program offers comprehensive, next-generation care that promotes recovery through three pillars —nutrition, exercise and a healthy mindset. These pillars are introduced to participants through several of our key program features, including:
- Medically supervised exercise tailored to your fitness level
- Multimedia-based immersive workshops, cooking classes and nutrition consultations
- Education focused on managing stress and anxiety, improving your communication skills, and setting effective goals
Our program is covered by Medicare and most commercial insurers. A referral is required to participate in our program.
